NASHVILLE, TN—It is with great sorrow that the family of Jack Walker Simpson announces his passing on December 13, 2023, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Jack was born on February 1, 1997, in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, Maryland. In 2022, Jack graduated from Middle Tennessee State University, majoring in audio production and music business.

Many of Jack’s fondest memories were made while growing up in Bethesda, and the Kenwood neighborhood in Chevy Chase, Maryland. His many activities were centered around art, music and creativity. Jack made music and illustrations constantly. While attending the music school Bach to Rock, he was able to perform with his band at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. He could make friends with anyone and kept his high school friendships strong throughout his life, staying in touch daily with them. Jack was a great communicator and captivating entertainer.

When visiting his maternal grandparents in Indiana, Jack loved the many trips to The Indianapolis Children’s Museum. Making the trip to the Lego Museum in Carlsbad, California, with his grandparents was one of his favorite experiences. Playing Scrabble, and winning every time, was a favorite pastime. Jack loved to design and illustrate board games. He was an avid sports fan. The Indianapolis Colts and the Baltimore Ravens were Jack’s favorite football teams. He always found entertaining concerts to attend with friends or family wherever he was.

Jack also cherished spending time with his paternal grandparents at their cottage, “Coveswood”, in the Northern Neck. While there, Jack enjoyed being on the water. His best-loved times were spent boating, fishing and jet skiing. Jack’s most recent visit to the Northern Neck will forever remain in the hearts of those who celebrated Thanksgiving with him.

Jack wrote and produced music that can be found on SoundCloud and Spotify under his many music identities, including Lizzardbrain and Shrimp Lo Mein III. Jack was a creative artist. His illustrations have been commissioned for many band posters and music festival promotions. He was a committed friend of the Nashville music community where he promoted local music events. His smile, light-hearted humor, kindness and gifted talents touched many people.

Jack’s surviving family includes his mother, Amy Jo Wilson of Bethesda; father, Matt Walker Simpson and stepmother, Susan Jane Simpson, of Lancaster; sister, Emma Katherine Simpson of Lakewood, Colorado; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Wilson of Beech Grove, Indiana; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Gordon Simpson of Weems; uncle, Dennis Dean Wilson of Beech Grove, Indiana; uncle, Edmund Gordon Simpson Jr. of New York, New York; cousins Hunter Wilson, Ethan Wilson, Zoe Wilson, Virginia Lian Simpson and Walker Simpson.

Interment will be held in the Simpson family gravesite at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 13. The Rev. Dr. George E. Conway will officiate.
