James Long recognized for contributions to community

The Northumberland County NAACP on Monday, January 25, recognized Northumberland resident and District 3 supervisor James Long for his leadership and dedication after 25 years as president of the chapter.

Newly elected president Rev. Dr. Tyron Williams thanked Long and stressed how “appreciative we are of the work he has done and all he will continue to do.”

Long said he first joined the NAACP in his teens, while growing up in Mount Airy, N.C. “I’ve always been a person who wanted to help people. All people,” he said.
