WEEMS—Janet Beck Winter died at her home in Weems on February 17, 2024. She was born May 1, 1947 in Nebraska and raised in Hawaii and California.
Janet moved east to attend Clark College, where she received a degree in psychology. Following college, Janet lived in Washington, D.C., and worked in insurance. In 1976 she married the love of her life, Phillip Winter. Janet and Phil made the Northern Neck their permanent home in 1990.
Janet led a life of adventure and color. She traveled, learning cultures and designs she incorporated in needlepoint and crochet items that were enjoyed by many. She loved the Northern Neck, its beauty and people.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip E. Winter; parents, Marcus and Margaret (Johansen) Beck; and brother Marcus Beck.
Surviving Janet are Kristin Beck (Stephen) Weitkamp, Teresa Beck, Melissa Winter, Anthony (Marcie) Winter, Daniel (Karen) Winter; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
