LANCASTER—Janet Pittman Ransone, 91, of Lively was born January 6, 1928, in Lancaster and died March 9, 2019, in Irvington.
Everyone knew her as “Sis.” She was a lifetime member of Norwood Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her favorite things in life were her church, family, friends and her garden.
Sis spent many hours helping at the Lively Printshop, teaching swim lessons at the Upper Lancaster Ruritan Center and enjoying bowling in Kilmarnock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Estelle and Willard Pittman Sr.; her husband, Francis G. Ransone; and her brothers, W.R. Pittman Jr. and Dorsey Pittman.
She is survived by her children Andy (Carol) of Lancaster, Cecil (Alice) of Aylett and Holly Pleasants (Richard) of Crozet; grandchildren, Terri Self (Brent), Erin Mcilwee (Aaron), Phillip Ransone (Lisa) and Ketner Pleasants; and great-grandchildren Landon, Pepperlyn, Warner and Rorianne.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. March 11 at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. March 12 at Currie Funeral Home with interment at St. Mary’s Whitechapel Episcopal Church, Lively. The Rev. Dr. Megan Limburg and Rev. Carlton Milstead officiated.
