
IRVINGTON—Jimmy Ray Bishop, 91, of Irvington, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026.
He served in the Coast Guard, was a barber and retired as chief custodian of Baltimore County Board of Education for 30 years.
Jimmy was a member of the White Stone Methodist Church and a member of the Methodist Men’s group. You could find him early on Sunday mornings opening the church preparing for services.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Donna Hawthorne Bishop; stepchildren, Kenneth Hawthorne (Tammy) of Irvington and Dana Arnold of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Kenneth Hugh Hawthorne and Bethany Arnold; great-grandchildren, Bianca Dallas and Amina Arnold. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Mullen of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Queens Meadows Point Cemetery in Keyser, W.Va., on Friday.
