KILMARNOCK—Judith “Judy” Louise Bridge (Wyant), 78, of Kilmarnock passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on September 3, 2024, in Palmyra, after a brief illness.

She was born in Kittanning, Pa., in 1946 to Robert C. and Clare L. Wyant and grew up in the Skinall neighborhood of North Buffalo Township. She was a 1963 graduate of Kittanning High School. She attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, earning a degree in home economics.

In 1968, she married Joseph P. Bridge, also of Kittanning. She was the loving mother of two sons, Joseph Patrick and Robert Michael “Mike.”

She enjoyed gardening, cooking (especially in large quantities) and had a special fondness for her cats. She was the person who could befriend the stray cat that wouldn’t come to anyone else. That cat would have a name and be on her lap in no time.

The family relocated to White Stone in 1984. There, she held numerous jobs, including working in the kitchens of The Lancashire and Lancaster High School. After a career change in the 1990s, she had a long affiliation with Bay Meadows Real Estate as an agent until her retirement.

Her work ethic, her perseverance, her wisdom and her kindness provided her sons with the best role model any boy could hope for. At times, her journey was not an easy one, but there were no complaints.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Mike.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Patrick Bridge; a daughter-in-law, Laura; and four grandchildren, William, Connor, Hayden and Annika Bridge, all of Palmyra.

A private service will be held at a later date. Donations to the Fluvanna County SPCA in her name are appreciated.
