IRVINGTON—Julie Buck Gilbert passed away November 20, 2016, in Irvington.
Loving mother, wife and friend, everyone will also remember her for her love of literature, art, history, fishing, music, needlepoint, food and travel just to name a few things.
Born in Springfield, Ill., she split her childhood among Illinois, Arizona and California before graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Always one eager to put a smile on someone’s face and plan the next adventure, she moved to England after university and spent time traveling Europe, Africa and North America before and after having a family.
Beloved wife of Derek for 24 years, Julie was also an incredible mother to, and is survived by, her daughter, Phoebe; and son, Hugo. Julie also is survived by her sister, Gina; brother, Van; nephew, Ryan; niece, Stacy; and cousins, Valorie, Stephen, Linda and Dave.
A memorial service was held December 7, at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lancaster Community Library or the Blue Ridge Bull Terrier Club Rescue.
