State sandlot tournament comes to town
Town Centre Park in Kilmarnock was filled with baseball players, family and fans on Thursday, July 9, for the opening ceremonies of the 2026 Virginia Junior League Baseball Tournament, hosted by District 15 at Dream Fields. The tournament included 13 teams from across the state, competing July 10-15. The ceremony included the singing of the national anthem by the Mullins Sisters, guest speaker Lancaster High School baseball coach Welby Saunders, reciting of the player pledge by Lancaster Junior League player Fin Burke and reciting of the parent pledge by Del.
