Just Gardens Tour due this weekend

The annual Just Gardens Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 12 and 13, will showcase four gardens on or near the Great Wicomico River in Northumberland County. Proceeds from the rain or shine event benefit The Haven Shelter and Services, which offers shelter and counseling for victims of domestic and sexual violence.

“If you love to garden, then a rainy day won’t dampen your spirit or your resolve to get out and visit a few of the Northern Neck’s finest gardens,” said committee member Anne Dickerson.

Tickets are $20 through today, May 11, or $25 on tour days. Advance tickets may be purchased at The Dandelion in Irvington, The Pedestal in Kilmarnock, Dream’s Fashion Boutique in Burgess and the Shoppe for Haven’s Sake in Warsaw.

Garden tour stops will include the Olsen Garden, 1687 Mila Road. Parking for the Olsen garden will be at Mila United Methodist Church, a short stroll from the garden. Golf carts will be available to transport walkers from the parking lot to the garden.

Other gardens will include the Curtis Garden, 601 Hardings Wharf Road; the Mahoney Garden, 240 Bass Lane; and the Kosinski Garden, 302 Bass Lane.

Shiloh School at Shiloh School and Balls Neck roads, also will be open during the tour. Box lunches will be for sale at the school and there are picnic tables and restroom facilities. The Master Gardeners will sell rain barrels at the school as well.
