Kemp and Gilbert featured Friday at Music Night

White Stone United Methodist Church, 118 Methodist Church Road, White Stone, will host Music Night at 7 p.m. Friday, January 20.

An inspirational evening of familiar tunes, new original songs and inspirational witnessing will be presented by Faith Kemp and Rick Gilbert, reported Douglas P Somervell.

“These are admission free performances and we encourage your participation in the fellowship and witnessing,” said Somervell. “Joyce Brodus and the ladies of the church will provide refreshments as always. Any and all tips or donations collected will go to help the musicians with their expenses.”

Gilbert has been performing with his guitar since age 10. He has played and sung with various folk and country rock bands, most recently Salty Dawgs and the duet, Just Us. He continues to perfect his finger-picking guitar style and song writing, said Somervell.

After a dramatic life change about eight years ago, Gilbert started writing and performing Christian praise music. He will share his inspirational story and tell of his love of Christ through word and music, said Somervell.

Kemp began singing at a young age in her church. She has a lifelong love of music that she expresses with her beautiful vocals, rich harmonies and “hand percussions,” said Somervell.

Kemp has performed praise music with Tommy Thompson, country rock with Salty Dawgs and Just Us, said Somervell. She is the lead singer for the country rock band,Tangent and continues to perform across the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula for many churches’ special occasions.
