Kilmarnock council appoints Cliff Dawson chief of police

KILMARNOCK—Cliff Dawson was unanimously (6-0) appointed Kilmarnock Chief of Police by the town council on November 27.

Council members Alice Cooper, Michael Sutherland, Curtis Smith, Rebecca Nunn, Emerson Gravatt, and Les Spivey voted in favor of Dawson’s appointment.

Dawson is a graduate of the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy. He joined the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) in 2006 before transferring to the White Stone Police Department in 2008. In White Stone Dawson worked as an officer until he was appointed chief in 2012.
