KILMARNOCK—Town manager Susan Cockrell broke down a proposed 2026-27 fiscal year budget totaling $9,035,533 during a first reading at the Monday, June 15, Kilmarnock Town Council meeting.
According to Cockrell, the coming year will see a major focus on utility infrastructure. While the total general fund budget will decrease by 4% overall, other areas based in infrastructure will see an increase in budgeting.
Cockrell said the general fund, which covers operating revenues and expenses, will total $4,840,271. This figure reflects a payroll increase of 3% for employees, a 1% decrease in public works, a decrease of 7% in administrative expenses, a projected increase of 7% in meals tax revenues, and unchanged real estate, personal property and sales tax rates….
