Kilmarnock Firemen’s Festival is canceled; truck raffle continues

KILMARNOCK—One of the most anticipated summer events in the Northern Neck, the annual Kilmarnock Firemen’s Festival, will not be held this year.

After a meeting on June 25 of Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) officers, members, volunteers and with input from the Lancaster County Health Department, KVFD announced its 85th annual carnival will be canceled.

“We wanted everybody involved, from the firemen to the volunteers, to have a voice and input,” said KVFD vice president Ray Lewis.

“We felt with many people already struggling, it wasn’t fair to ask them to come…
