Kilmarnock issues safe boating proclamation

Warm weather is finally here. Many folks will be heading out on the water to fish, ski, enjoy the scenery or just be with friends and family.

Recognizing the importance of safe boating, the mayor and members of Kilmarnock’s town council recently issued a proclamation in support of National Safe Boating Week May 19 through May 25.

The proclamation urges people to keep safe boating principals and procedures in mind and wear a life jacket.

“Our intent is that everyone makes it home safely after a trip on the water,” said Pat Hogan, U.S. Coast Guard Flotilla 33 commander. “We want to thank Kilmarnock’s Town Council for assisting us in promoting safe boating. You will never know how many lives are saved by getting people to think safe.”

The auxiliary can assist boaters by conducting free Vessel Safety Checks which ensure both crew and boats are ready for the water…
