KVFD accepting donations for repairs to damaged carnival rides and structures

KILMARNOCK—The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) is accepting donations following a fire and the vandalism of multiple buildings at its carnival grounds, 200 Waverly Avenue, Kilmarnock.

A fire on May 31 in the bingo stand damaged both the building and destroyed two children’s rides which were stored inside, according to KVFD Firemen’s Festival president Cody Smith. Although the building and contents were insured, many residents have come forward wanting to donate to help keep “our beloved Northern Neck tradition going,” he said.

Both the fire and vandalism in five of the buildings on the grounds, which have not officially been linked, remain under investigation by….
