The RAL Art Center’s 58th annual Labor Day Art Show, coincides with RAL’s 70th anniversary.
Widely recognized as one of the longest-standing visual arts shows in Virginia, the show opened August 28 and will continue through September, reported communications and marketing team leader Barbara Kershner.
Extra hours will be noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 1; and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Labor Day, Monday, September 2. The rest of the month, the show will be open during regular business hours, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
Some 118 pieces of fine original art by 73 RAL artists will be available for viewing and purchase, said Kershner. Visitors will have an opportunity to vote for their personal favorite piece. A viewer’s choice award will be announced at the First Friday reception from 5-7 p.m. September 6.
Refreshments will be served. Visitors will also have a chance to purchase two different raffle tickets for fine art pieces which are on display at the art center, she said. Winners of those raffles will also be announced at the reception.
The show will be judged by artist, instructor and author Lisa Boardwine who will award a number of ribbons and monetary awards. The winners will be announced at the RAL Art Center on Saturday, August 31.
