Lady Devils defeat Luray Bulldogs, 3-1, in Class 1 volleyball quarterfinal

Lancaster’s talented underclassmen pulled off the school’s first state quarterfinal victory on Saturday, November 15, as the Lady Devils claimed a 3-1 win over Region B champion Luray in the Class 1 volleyball tournament.

The win set up a rematch between Region A’s top two seeds Middlesex and LHS. The Lady Chargers, who swept Lancaster, 3-0, in the regional championship, also took a 3-0 win over Buffalo Gap in the first round of state play. The two teams met for one last time this season Tuesday, November 18, in Saluda. The winner advances to the state championship Saturday, November 22 (see sidebar).
