
West Point held Lancaster to two points in the first half and fended off a second-half comeback to edge the Lady Devils, 26-20, and hand LHS its first loss of the season in girls varsity basketball on Friday, January 5.
The Pointers held an 11-2 lead at the half after holding Lancaster scoreless in the first quarter. The Devils finally found the basket with 3:08 to play in the half.
Lancaster had scored over 40 the night before, beating Northampton, 43-38, for a second win this season over the Yellow Jackets. Amarreona Ball did the bulk of the work for LHS, scoring almost half of its tally. Ball scored 12 of her team’s 13 points in the third quarter and finished with 20 to lead all scorers.
