Lady Devils secure spot in state tournament

Lancaster secured a spot in the Class 1 state volleyball tournament with a 3-1 win over Mathews in a Region 1A semifinal match on Thursday, November 6.

The win set up a much anticipated battle between the region’s number one seed Middlesex and number two seed Lancaster in the championship on Tuesday, November 11. Win or lose in the championship, the Lady Devils have already punched their ticket to the state playoffs. Both the region champion and runner-up advance to the Class 1 quarterfinals.

Lancaster earned a trip to state play with its win over the Blue Devils.

Lancaster and Middlesex have met three times already this season with MHS taking the first two matches and LHS winning the third.

After being absent from the lineup for two weeks with a foot injury, Northern Neck District player of the year, Lexi VerMeer, returned to the front line for the Lady Red Devils, where she amassed 34 kills in the two regional….
