The Lady Devils’ run for the state title ended on the road last Saturday at the hands of Region B’s Stonewall Jackson, 36-26, in the state Group 1A quarterfinals.
“I’m proud that they got as far as we did,” said Lancaster High School coach Joanne Webb-Fary. “That was the goal, to make it to the state quarterfinals. I was hoping with the draw we had we could go a little farther but I’m still proud of what the girls accomplished this season.”
Lancaster put together a 17-7 campaign this season as the Northern Neck District and Region 1A runners-up, its best finish since its last state appearance in 2013. Under Webb-Fary’s 10 years of leadership, the LHS girls have made it to the state tournament seven times…
