Western Albemarle scored three goals in the first half and went on to beat Northumberland, 4-0, and eliminate the Lady Indians from postseason field hockey play last Thursday in Claraville.
Northumberland is the only Class A school in the state with field hockey and was playing up in the Class 2A/3A regional tournament last week, facing the Class 3 Charlottesville team in the first round.
