REEDVILLE—Lambert Glaven Walker, 74, of Reedville peacefully transitioned on December 19, 2025, at his home in Sherwood Forest, surrounded by family.
He was the son of the late Carl Barnette and Dorothy Glaven Walker and grandson of the late William Lloyd and Mabel Timbs Walker, all of Fairport.
He was predeceased by a brother, Louis Timbs Walker, of Somers Point, N.J.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Roxanne Dale Walker (née Sisson); a son, James Travis Walker and wife Caren, all of Reedville; a brother, James Lloyd Walker of The Villages, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Laura Virginia Sisson of Mechanicsville; and many extended family and loved ones.
Nursing is a divine calling, and the Walker family wish to thank Mrs. Julia Dunaway of Callao for her devoted assistance during his late challenges.
Lambert was like a tree planted beside water—a steadfast husband and father. He was blessed with the happy talent of making friends and the wisdom of how to keep them.
Descended from a long line of marine engineers, he was employed for nearly 50 years at the processing plant of Omega Protein, Inc. of Fleeton, and made quiet, but useful contributions to the local menhaden fishery, both ashore and afloat. His ancestors were among the very first to engage in that industry in Virginia.
He was the severest critic of his own work, which made him a craftsman in every sense of that word. All who knew him will remember his firm, but humble mastery of anything he undertook. This life principle extended inward. His nature knew no artifice, but was pure and outward flowing—like a river.
He is loved and will be sorely missed.
Arrangements are in the care of Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Burial will take place privately, at Roseland Cemetery, Reedville. Contributions in Lambert’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
– Rest In Peace –
