Lancaster approves permits for two short-term rentals

LANCASTER—Lancaster supervisors on Thursday, November 21, held public hearings on two special exception requests, a recent requirement for unhosted short-term rentals (STR) in the county.

Daniel and Susan Nester requested a permit to operate an unhosted STR at 1541 Cox’s Farm Road, Weems.

Neighbors Bill King and Anette Wolf said that since the STR has been in operation last year “there’s become more and more” rentals. “The balance of the residences in this area are full-time residents. When this property is not being rented, this is a very quiet neighborhood.”

D. Nester said they “love coming down here because it is quiet and relaxing. We bought the property with the intention of retiring down here” and are using the property as a STR in the meantime. He said he was “surprised” by the noise complaints….
