Lancaster Broadband Authority to conduct survey

LANCASTER—Responding to concerns from the community, the Lancaster board of supervisors in July 2018 established the Lancaster County Broadband Authority.

The five members are all volunteers and they are working diligently to secure high-speed internet access for all county residents, reported chairman Cassie Thompson.

Since July, the authority has organized and established contacts, said Thompson. It investigates funding sources and gathers information on different technologies.

The authority also is receiving advice from the Center for Innovative Technology (CIT). CIT provides free assistance to local government entities seeking to cross over the digital divide, said Thompson.
