The Lancaster High School varsity basketball team is headed back to “big dance.”

The Red Devils earned a shot to defend their back-to-back Virginia High School League Class 1 titles on Wednesday, February 26, when they beat Middlesex, 67-54, in the Region 1A semifinals. That win earned them an automatic berth in the state tournament.

But a berth wasn’t good enough. Lancaster on Friday, February 28, reclaimed its regional title for a first round home game in state play, beating Northumberland for the first time this season, 66-46, in the region championship.
