Lancaster County Circuit Court Report

LANCASTER—The trial of Henry Respess Hall of Deltaville in the 1988 death of Virginia Mae Hall has been rescheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, March 31.

Hall’s case was originally scheduled for a jury trial on March 29. He is charged with first degree murder, abduction by force, armed burglary with intent to rape and robbery. The trial will be a bench trial before Lancaster County Circuit Court Judge R. Michael McKenney.

On March 17, the following cases came before Judge McKenney.

A case review for Centrix Brandell Palmer of Lancaster, on probation violation related to two felony charges, was continued to Friday, March 24.

Timothy LaMarr Moody of Hampton had his sentence and probation revoked on 12 charges of probation violation.

A capias was issued for the arrest of Brandon T. Fischer of White Stone when he did not show up in court on violation of probation on a misdemeanor.

Joseph Cox Jr. of Lively was assigned a court appointed attorney on 13 charges of violation of probation of felony offenses. The case was set for April 7.

Dwayne Dante Noel of Newport News, charged with one felony and two misdemeanor drug possession offenses, was assigned a court appointed attorney. Trial is set for April 28.

A post trial motion by Russell L. Dodson was denied by Judge McKenney. Dodson is serving 15 years of a 20-year sentence for aggravated sexual assault.

Maria F. Thompson was released on bond pending an April 28 trial on 12 felony charges of forgery and uttering.

Andrea Kay Broughman of Topping pled guilty to a felony charge of distribution of Schedule IV drugs. She was sentenced to 3 years, all suspended and two years supervised probation.

Deante Verdel Jones of Kilmarnock pled guilty to probation violation on misdemeanor drug charge and felony child abuse. A third charge was nolle prosequi and a fourth charge of distribution was taken under advisement. He received an active sentence of 178 days.

Jasmine Elizabeth Taylor’s charge of misdemeanor distribution of marijuana was taken under advisement for one year.

Shakeen Donta Walker of Weems was set for trial on charges on felony resale of Schedule I/II drugs. Trial was scheduled for July 14.

Weems resident S. Annette Chewning’s name and charges were corrected. She is charged with two felonies of resale of Schedule II drugs. Trial is set for July 17.

Valencia W. Owens of Lancaster, charged with felony manufacture/possession of a controlled substance, was set for trial on July 17.
