The Lancaster High School varsity volleyball team returns five of its players from last year and will be led by a new coach.
Ramey Childress takes over the role as the Lady Devils head coach and brings back a core group, including several starters, from last year’s successful team, which advanced to the Region 1A tournament semifinals.

Childress brings years of playing experience to his new role. He was a decorated player at Gloucester High School, receiving first-team all district honors and was named the Daily Press player of the year his senior season. After college, he coached at New Hope boarding school in Pennsylvania before returning home to eastern Virginia. Along with coaching volleyball, he teaches English, including honors and dual-enrollment, at LHS.
