Lancaster Junior All Stars place fourth in state tourney

After losing their opening game two weeks ago, the Lancaster County Little League’s Junior All Stars pulled off three straight wins to go 3-2 and finish fourth in the Virginia Junior Baseball State Tournament in Bridgewater.

Hosted by District 3’s Bridgewater Little League, the state tournament was played July 19-23 at Oakdale Park and Turner Ashby Field. District 3’s Broadway won the state championship and coincidentally will host the Southeast Regional tournament in Bridgewater this week. The winner moves on to the World Series.

Lancaster’s only two losses came to District 16’s Loudoun South and Broadway, which met in the championship game.

Overall, this was a great tournament for us,” said Lancaster manager Travis Pittman. “It’s the first time a Lancaster’s boys team has made it to the state tournament since the 1980s.”
