Lancaster junior softball all stars go 2-2 in state tourney

The Lancaster County Little League Junior Softball All Stars went 2-2 in the Virginia All Star Tournament July 7-10 in Coeburn, to finish fourth out of nine teams.

“This group of girls are really, really determined,” said coach Bruce Northern, who also coaches the Lancaster High School varsity team. “They’ve been together for a while, been playing together since they were young and play as a team.”

Lancaster came out of pool play at 2-1 after beating host Coeburn, 12-8, in the first game and defeating Western Branch, 19-14, in the second. Marion edged Lancaster, 10-7. Lancaster advanced to the playoff bracket….
