Lancaster library announces special events for the summer

There is something for everyone and all ages at the Lancaster Community Library (LCL) this summer. In addition to regular programming for youth and adults, everyone is invited to the Mobile Library Celebration at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at LCL, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.

“The Storymobile has operated since 1991, bringing books, storytimes and literacy to the youngest members of our community,” said library director Alice Cooper.

The new Mobile Library will include Storymobile operations and will offer library programming and services for all ages. Visits to area retirement/senior care homes, special events and markets are planned, she said.

On Wednesday, June 12, everyone is invited to tour the vehicle at the LCL entrance. During the event, there will be a brief program and light refreshments in the lobby, where Dolly Parton Imagination Library and library card signups also will be available.

Summer speakers

The LCL will present five programs this summer in its A Special Evening With… series. This is its third season and all programs are free and open to the public. The presentations are held in the library’s upstairs meeting room. They will also be streamed on Facebook Live and….
