Lancaster Players to stage an unconventional mystery

Bill Casey and Frederick Johnson form an alliance as a psychic detective and a murder victim in order to find the guilty party in “What Is ‘Murder’?,” a mystery/comedy opening June 6 at The Lancaster Playhouse in White Stone.

Director Karen Stanley describes the upcoming Lancaster Players production of Ken Levine’s “What Is ‘Murder’?” as an inventive twist on the classic “buddy” story.

“One of the two men is an LAPD detective, while the other is a murder victim who communicates from beyond to the psychic detective,” Stanley said.

Bill Casey steps into the role of Detective Clennard, while Frederick Johnson plays Kyle, the deceased victim who serves as the play’s narrator and a presence in flashback scenes. As the mystery unfolds, three suspects—Phoebe Hollingsworth, Lisa Mallory and Rick Shurtz—emerge, each with their own….
