LANCASTER—The Lancaster board of supervisors on Thursday, July 30, entertained a variety of housekeeping matters from public safety and public recreation to the annual budget.
Among public safety matters, Virginia Department of Transportation assistant residency engineer for the Northern Neck Hunter Goodman noted a design public hearing for the alignment of Pinckardsville Road with Crawfords Corner and Carlson roads will be held from 5-7 p.m. August 26 at Lancaster Elementary School, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock.
The Oyster Creek Bridge replacement project has been delayed again, according to Goodman, “Dominion is currently out there replacing utilities which pushed back the start date for construction to August 10.”
Goodman also said a speed study at Fleets Island is nearly complete. “I think we’ve got all the reports and data in. Our traffic engineering team is finalizing the report and the recommendation for that.”
Supervisor Jason Bellows asked about the “possibility of pursuing speed cameras in the school zone on Route 200.”
Goodman indicated the county would work with a vendor, who would then apply for a permit through….
