Lancaster to send 11 athletes, Northumberland, 9, to Class 1 state indoor track championships

Lancaster High School will send 11 athletes to compete in 14 events at the Class 1/2 combined state indoor track championships March 2-3 at Liberty University.

Leading the qualifiers are seniors Hailey Smith and Michael Foulkes. Smith will compete in five individual events and two relays, while Foulkes will run in two individual races and two relays.

Foulkes will be one of the runners to beat in the 1000 meter in the boys race. He has the fastest time in the state among Class 1 runners after recording a 2:44.83 in a meet two weeks ago.

Girls meet

Lancaster’s girls 4X400 meter relay team of Lizzy Woolard, Chrya Boyd, Ayla Saunders and Smith also has the fastest Class 1 time in that event. The LHS team won that race at….
