Lancaster’s Hailey Smith dominated the field of 36 female harriers in last Wednesday’s four-team cross country meet at Hills Quarter in Kilmarnock. Smith crossed the finish line more than three-and-a-half minutes faster than runner-up Sophia Diggs of West Point.
Smith ran the 3.1-mile race in 19:47.39 for one of her fastest times. Diggs ran the race in 23:20.67.
However, West Point took places two through four and finished with a team low 21 points to win the meet.
Lancaster had two runners in the top 10 with Chyra Boyd placing seventh (24:20.20) as the team runner-up with 53 points. St. Margaret’s was third with 79 and Essex fourth with 87.
