In a world where everybody wants it faster, bigger and more exotic, Lee’s Restaurant on Main Street in Kilmarnock has kept it simple with home cooking served by family and friends.
There have been few changes to the recipes and staple dishes served in the 1940s by founders Harry and Frances Lee. Even four generations later, the menu is much the same and the dishes are still prepared with a pinch a salt and a ounce of love.
The old grammatically incorrect cliche applies here. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Trends vary, stocks rise and fall, the news of the day is old news tomorrow, but there are certain places and things that stand the test of time and are made to last like a good pair of jeans, a little black dress and a hamburger deluxe with onion rings.
Anyone that’s ever been to the family-owned business has to agree.
