RICHMOND—The 2024 Virginia General Assembly session will convene at noon Wednesday, January 10, at the State Capitol and adjourn on Saturday, March 9.
According to Virginia’s Legislative Information System (lis.virginia.gov) pre-filed legislation includes a bill calling for a study to address the Atlantic menhaden fishery.
House Bill 19, filed by Del. R. Lee Ware of Powhatan, calls on the Virginia Institute of Marine Sciences (VIMS), Virginia Marine Resources Commission and certain stakeholders to conduct a three-year study of the ecology, impact and economic importance of Atlantic menhaden in the waters of the Commonwealth.
