LOTTSBURG—Mrs. Lela Bryant Newsome, 90, of Lottsburg passed away peacefully on April 10, 2017.
A retired cosmetologist, Mrs. Newsome was a lifetime member of Bethany Baptist Church as well as a member of the Eastern Star.
She was predeceased by her husband J.T. Newsome Sr.
She is survived by her three children, Jefferson T. Newsome Jr. of Lottsburg, Ann N. Trevvett of Mechanicsville and Joyce Hope Newsome of Lottsburg. She is survived as well by a grandson, Keith T. Trevvett (Gretchen) of Harrisonburg and special friends, Lois and Nancy Fones.
The family will receive friends at Welch Funeral Home, Marks Chapel in Warsaw from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and her Eastern Star service will follow at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 14, at Bethany Baptist Church in Callao. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Virginia Bluebird Society at 726 William Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401 and/or the Mid County Rescue Squad at 7990 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville, VA 22473.
