Lancaster Elementary School on Thursday, January 15, crowned a new spelling bee champion, seventh grader Milan Waddy-Brooks.

Milan Waddy-Brooks will represent Lancaster Elementary School in the Central Virginia regional spelling bee competition in Richmond on March

Waddy-Brooks, the son of Sunacia Taylor and Dajaun Brooks, outlasted 17 other classroom “mini-bee” winners in grades 3-7. After four rounds of words, Waddy-Brooks won with the championship word “brandished.”
