For Lancaster High School athletes, it’s time to start thinking fall sports!
Practices will begin next week for all of LHS’s fall athletic teams with junior varsity and varsity football players hitting the field at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 27, under the leadership of new head varsity coach Draper Washington.
Golf, volleyball, cross country and cheerleading practices all begin Monday, July 31.
Golfers will meet at 4 p.m. at the Golden Eagle Golf Course in Irvington. Cross country runners, volleyball players and cheerleaders will practice at LHS. Athletes should contact their coaches or LHS for practice times.
All athletes are reminded they need to have a completed Virginia High School League physical before beginning practice, said athletic director Dave Zeiler. Please bring the form to practice.
Free VHSL physicals are being offered at the Northern Neck-Middlesex Free Health Clinic in Kilmarnock. They will be offered August 2, 9 and 16; but student-athletes must call for an appointment.
Contact the health clinic at 435-0575. Physical forms are available at the high school and students must bring the forms with them to the clinic.
