The Lancaster board of supervisors on Thursday, July 27, recognized the athletes and coaches of Lancaster High School’s 2023 state champion boys track and field team.
The team was the Northern Neck District and Region 1A champions, which qualified them for the Virginia High School League 1A State Championships. At the state meet, the boys scored 80.5 points, securing three individual titles and the team title.
Reece Rhodes brought home an individual championship in both the shot put and the discus—his shot put performance was a Virginia High School League 1A state record. Daveon Smith secured the third individual state championship in the long jump.
