Local families plan to bring Scouting back to Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock’s local Scouting unit was active prior to the pandemic but soon folded.

A group of local families are prepared and excited to bring scouting back to the area. The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck is prepared to charter a Cub Scout Pack ages 5-11.

For families interested in joining and helping organize the new Cub Scout Pack, an organizational meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, at the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck, 517 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.

“Den leaders are essential to starting a pack in Kilmarnock,” said Isaac Otero, district executive for the Heart of Virginia Council, BSA.

Cub Scout and Scout BSA units are typically grouped by age and run by volunteers—often the Scouts’ parents, former scouts or community members who….
