Mabel Meador Lewis

ASHLAND—Mabel Anna Parks Meador Lewis, 96, of Ashland made her journey to be with her heavenly father on October 5, 2018.

Mabel was born to Woody and Eugie Parks on October 1,1922, at the Parks homestead on Myers Creek in Ottoman.

She was predeceased by husbands, Carl Meador and Marvin Lewis; her sisters Lucy, Laurene, Juanita and Emma; and her brothers John, Woody Jr. and Bennie.

She is survived by her sisters Mamie Cooke and Edna Revere, both of Lancaster, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends and caregivers Herb and Linda Delbridge and their family.

Mabel loved to sew and her passion became her career as she was an exceptional seamstress and could make anything from a simple dress to upholstering and decorating the yacht that she and Marvin once owned.

During her career, she was contracted by Sears, Roebuck and Co. to make custom drapes and slipcovers. She met many wonderful people up and down the East Coast while working at this job.

After retiring and later losing Marvin, she continued to sew into her eighties as many of her former customers requested that she still help decorate their homes.

A private burial was held October 10 at Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover.
