Maddie Davis knocks one over the centerfield wall in 4-3 win

Maddie Davis hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning to score the go-ahead run and lift Lancaster over West Point, 4-3, in a non-district varsity softball game last Wednesday.

Lancaster lost a pair of Northern Neck District games to Washington & Lee and Northumberland last week to get edged out of the district tournament. First-place Northumberland was scheduled to host fourth-place Essex and second-place Rappahannock was supposed to host third-place Washington & Lee in the district semifinals. The championship game is tomorrow, May 17, at 6 p.m. at Dream Fields in Kilmarnock.

Despite not making the district tournament, the Lady Devils earned a spot in the Region 1A playoffs…
