KILMARNOCK—Marie Piccard, beloved wife of the late J. Allan Piccard, passed away September, 28, 2019, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia. She was 88 years old.
Marie was born and raised in Mineola, N.Y.; moved to Stony Brook, N.Y. where she and Allan raised their five children, then settled in Kilmarnock in 1985.
Marie was an avid tennis player, enjoyed bowling, bridge, cooking, reading, sewing and bingo. Marie was a devoted wife and mother, loved entertaining and always opened her home to others. Marie will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Much loved mother of Susan Piccard Alexander, Kathryn Strong, Judith Piccard, Barbara Piccard-Naughton and Robert Piccard. Cherished grandmother of James, Terrence, Johanna, Curtis, Barbara, Christine, Michael, Julia, John, Sarah and Jane. Great-grandmother of Rachel, Alex, Lily, Maeve, Declan and Aislinn.
The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Commonwealth Senior Living of Kilmarnock, Hospice of Virginia, and the staff at Lancashire Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center.
