Mary B. White

WEEMS—With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, the family of Mary Blackstone White announces her passing on May 6, 2026, at the age of 75.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and creating lasting memories with those she loved most. A loving mother to four children who each somehow felt like an only child, Mary had a rare gift for making every person in her life feel deeply seen, valued and unconditionally loved. Her gentle spirit, caring heart, and steady presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Born on February 1, 1951, in Auburn, Alabama, Mary spent her childhood growing up around the Auburn University campus where her father was a professor. High school sweethearts, she shared a remarkable love story with her husband, Tom White, the love of her life and devoted partner of 58 years. Together they built a life grounded in love, commitment, family and unwavering support for one another through every season of life. They established their roots in Virginia, living between Chesterfield and Weems (aka “The Rivah”) for the past 20 years.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Mary lived her life guided by grace, compassion and trust in God. Her faith was a source of strength not only for herself, but for those around her, and her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace in Heaven.

She is survived by her loving husband, Tom White; her son, Waid Gregory White and his son Carter; her daughter, Ashley White Batten, her husband, Anthony, and their children, Hayley, Alyssa and Kaitlyn; her son, Matthew Thomas White, his wife, Brandy, and their children, Madelyn, Grace and Claire; and her daughter, Courtney White Sweasy, her husband, Erin, and their children, Jacob and Waid.

Mary’s legacy lives on through the family she cherished so deeply and the countless lives she touched with grace and generosity. An active member of White Stone Church of the Nazarene, Mary served on many committees and missions supporting the community.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30, White Stone Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary’s honor to the Community Impact fund through White Stone Church of the Nazarene, 57 Whisk Drive, White Stone.
