Mary Ball Road reopens; some routes remain closed following tropical storm

LANCASTER—Mary Ball Road in Lancaster reopened earlier this week to through traffic. A section of the road from Lancaster to Lively was closed October 12 after being damaged by heavy rain and flooding from Tropical Storm Michael.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews repaired a sinkhole, replaced a collapsed drainage pipe underneath the road and restored the travel surface, reported VDOT communication manager Kelly Hannon.

In the Fredericksburg District, 12 roads remain closed from storm damage in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, and one road remains closed in Stafford County.

Locally, repair work continues on Hampton Hall Road in Northumberland County, Conley Road in Richmond County and Kings Mill Road in Westmoreland County…
