WEEMS—Maryus Allen Brent, 82, of Weems went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kay Winstead Brent; parents, Robert and Lottie Brent; brothers, Robert “Bobby” Brent (Ann) and Morton Brent; and sister, Eleanor Brent Hayden (Earl).
He is survived by his son, Mark A. Brent (Sandra); sister, Charlotte B. Self (Ronnie); sister-in-law, Pam Brent; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Maryus was the night auditor for the Tides Lodge for many years, and co-owner of Brent’s Septic Services. He was also a barber for L.H. Brent & Son barber shop for many years. To his close family and friends, he was known as “Meredith” or “Freddy,” and was an avid fisherman, enjoyed a good game of pool, fast cars, riding his motorcycle with the Lancaster Riders and boats. He loved racing cars and motorcycles at his family racetrack, Brent’s Motor Speedway in Lancaster County.
His celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 14, at Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church, Weems. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
