McBride promotes The Cicada Spring

First time novelist Carolyn McBride recently brought her book tour to the Woman’s Club of Northumberland County.

On August 18, first time novelist Carolyn McBride read from her debut novel, The Cicada Spring: A Potomac Shores Novel, at The Woman’s Club of Northumberland County (WCNC).

A rapt audience enjoyed learning from the author of her inspirations in writing the book. The section read aloud was about the main character’s discovery of multiple handmade quilts, and in particular one which had been decoratively stitched with the names of the family members who made the quilt, reported Cat Brincefield.

This quilt is a real one from the author’s childhood home. The quilt inspired a scene rich with emotion and….
