Menokin Speaker Series to explore Depression era art and photography

The 2017 Menokin Speaker Series will open today, March 16, at the Menokin Visitors Center, 4037 Menokin Road, Warsaw.

The series will feature one speaker a month through September, said assistant director Leslie Rennolds. Some returning favorites and some new, but sure-to-become-favorite speakers, will participate.

The opening program, from 4 to 6 p.m., will feature Jeffrey Allison, the Paul Mellon Collection educator and manager, statewide programs and exhibitions at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) and a professional photographer. The fee is $10.

Allison will present the VFMA Speaker on the Arts program, “An American Silence: Walker Evans and Edward Hopper.”
