KILMARNOCK—Merle T. Kelton, 96, of Kilmarnock formerly of Lynchburg and Northern Virginia passed away on December 11, 2017.
She is survived by her children, Vicki White (Jerry), Pat Griffith (Joan) and Betti Traficante (Russell); nine grandchildren, Terri, Phil, Scott, Robyn, Cassandra, Amanda, Kevin, Wendi and Jennifer; 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jesse Tanner (Janet); and numerous nieces; nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Holt; her grandson, Michael Griffith and her spouse, Sam Kelton.
Mrs. Kelton worked as a bookkeeper for Lee Gardens, Delta Van Lines and Rustburg Hardware. After her retirement, she volunteered at Seconds Unlimited in Kilmarnock and she greatly enjoyed working in her yard. She was a very strong, independent lady and was loved by many.
Family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, December 14, at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
